A chapter by Dr. Jamil Mustafa, professor of English Studies, has been published in "" (Manchester University Press, 2025). 

Considering late-Victorian ghost stories set in India during British rule, “Queer Spectres of the British Raj” demonstrates how Anglo-Indian ghosts challenge the heteronormativity, racism, and ethnocentrism necessary to imperial stability and hegemony. These queer spectres destabilize and disrupt the homosocial camaraderie of the British Raj, uncannily linking living Englishmen with their (un)dead and potentially deadly foreign doppelgängers. 

"Ghosts and the Gothic" is the latest book in the , which offers innovative interpretations of the Gothic mode over time and across the world.
